Privacy Policy

Last updated:

This privacy policy describes how nickringling.com ("the site," "I," or "Nick Ringling") collects, uses, and protects information when you visit the site, create an account, or purchase a fine art print.

1. Information I Collect

Account information. When you create an account or sign in with Google, I collect your name, email address, and a profile identifier. Passwords are not stored — authentication is handled through Google OAuth via BetterAuth.

Purchase and shipping information. When you place an order, I collect your name, shipping address, and email address. Payment card details are processed directly by Stripe and are never stored on this site's servers.

Order history. Completed orders — including the print configuration, shipping address, and fulfillment status — are stored in the site's database so you can look up past purchases.

Usage data. Standard web server logs may record your IP address, browser type, and the pages you visit. This data is used for security and operational purposes and is not sold or shared with advertisers.

2. Payment Processing — Stripe

All payment transactions are processed by Stripe. When you check out, you are redirected to a Stripe-hosted payment page. Your card number, CVV, and billing details are entered directly into Stripe's systems and are never transmitted to or stored on nickringling.com servers. Stripe's privacy policy is available at stripe.com/privacy.

3. Print Manufacturing and Fulfillment — WHCC

Fine art prints are manufactured and shipped by WHCC (White House Custom Colour), a professional print lab. To fulfill your order, I transmit the following information to WHCC:

  • Your name and shipping address
  • The print specification (photograph, size, frame, and finish)
  • A high-resolution image file prepared for production

WHCC uses this information solely to manufacture and ship your order. I do not share payment card details with WHCC. WHCC's privacy practices are governed by their own policies.

4. Google Drive Integration

The site uses a private application called Nick Ringling Photography Sync to publish photographs for sale and prepare print-production files. This application is authorized by the site owner (Nick Ringling) and uses Google's drive.readonly permission to read and download image files from a designated folder in the owner's personal Google Drive.

What is accessed. The application reads image files (RAW and JPEG photographs) from a single, owner-designated Google Drive folder. No other Drive content is accessed.

How it is used. Downloaded images are resized and converted to web-optimized JPEG files for display on the site and to high-resolution production files for print manufacturing. Metadata such as filename and file ID is stored in the site's database to track which photographs have been imported.

Storage. Processed image files are stored on the site's hosting infrastructure. Original Drive files are not permanently stored on the server — they are downloaded on demand for processing and the temporary download is discarded after the derivative is created.

Sharing. Processed production-ready image files are shared with WHCC solely for the purpose of manufacturing prints that customers have ordered. No Drive data is shared with advertisers, analytics providers, or any other third parties.

Distinction between private and published photographs. Source files in Google Drive are private and not publicly accessible. Only photographs that the site owner has explicitly added to the catalog are displayed on the site and made available for purchase.

Google API Services User Data Policy. The Nick Ringling Photography Sync application's use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Google Drive data accessed through this application is used only to operate the photograph catalog and print production pipeline described above. It is not used for advertising, profiling, or any purpose unrelated to the service the user authorized.

5. Cookies and Session Storage

The site uses cookies and browser session storage for the following functional purposes:

  • Maintaining your login session after you sign in
  • Preserving your shopping cart between page loads
  • Storing a temporary checkout authorization token during the purchase flow

No third-party advertising or tracking cookies are set. If you use Google Sign-In, Google may set its own cookies as part of the OAuth flow; those are governed by Google's privacy policy.

6. Data Security

The site is served exclusively over HTTPS. The database storing account and order information is hosted on managed infrastructure with access controls. Passwords are not stored — authentication relies on Google OAuth tokens managed by BetterAuth. Stripe handles all payment card data and is PCI-DSS compliant.

No security measure is perfect. If you have reason to believe your account has been compromised, contact me at nickringling@gmail.com.

7. Data Retention

Account information is retained for as long as your account is active. Order records are retained to support order lookups, shipping inquiries, and any applicable legal obligations. If you would like your account or order data deleted, contact me at nickringling@gmail.com and I will process your request within a reasonable time.

8. Your Privacy Rights

You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal information I hold about you. To make a request, email nickringling@gmail.com. I do not sell personal information to third parties.

9. Children's Privacy

This site is not directed at children under 13. I do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

10. Changes to This Policy

I may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision. Continued use of the site after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
